Description for Roslyn Ridge
This is just a very small sampling of the trails on Roslyn Ridge. Some of the options in this area also include Rat Pack. The map depicts a 12.8 mile ride with about 2300' of elevation gain.
echnically it's not overwhelming, but the terrain in this area is fairly steep. You're pretty much guaranteed to burn through the morning's bucket o' sugar puffs no matter what route you take.
Rat Pack and #6 chute are tech 4. Some steeper terrain is naturally tech 3 due to loose soils, ruts and washes.
The race course is only one option out of an as-of-yet unmarked and relatively unmapped maze of trails. A person could spend the better part of a day or 3 beating around in the woods just trying to figure out how it all connects.
The race course comes out of the slag heap area and bears strongly to the left (north) up against a hill (behind the Plum Creek office). Little moose head signs are still there for most of the course indicating you're on the right track. A long, grueling climb leads out of town and finally brings you up to some fun traversing trails winding through the woods. From there you can either follow the signs or take the old roads downhill back into town.
