Description for Guadalupe River State Park
Guadalupe River State Park has three trail loops which, when combined, make for a 5-mile ride. There are a few gentle climbs on these trails, but for the most part, they have very little elevation gain/loss. They consist mainly of old ranch roads, and the only technical aspect comes from easy rock gardens, numerous baby heads, and dodging horse apples. Beginners, particularly those without at least a front suspension, may find the frequency of rocks to be frustrating, but intermediate riders will likely find the trails to be boring. Loop 3 arguably deserves an intermediate rating, due to a couple of more challenging rock gardens near the bluff overlooking the river, but the rest is easy to moderate.
The park has great facilities, but the rangers are busybodies, which tends to detract somewhat from the experience.
