Description for Huntsville State Park
Huntsville State Park is a nice singletrack loop that is pretty easy. The ride is more about the scenery and being in nature then about the mountain biking experience, not to say the biking isn't good, it is just not a technical challenge. The trail has a lot of roots and loose sand. Making a trip to the area is totally worthwhile if you are planning to camp, relax, and bring the bikes for a leisurely ride, but its not really a mountain biking destination.
The trail can get very muddy so check to see if it has rained recently.

This is a great trail. It is not very technical, but it is a fun and fast fitness trail. There are lots of long climbs and long downhills. It can also get pretty sandy in places.
The major short-coming of the trail is it popularity. It is a bi-directional, multiple-use trail, so you have to watch for other bikers and hikers.

Keep your eyes open as there are plenty of others on the trail. Trail can be fast and tight but watch sandy corners.

I've renamed this place, "Huntsville State Sandbox". It literally appears that sand has been put down around every turn to limit speed. Park is nice, but trails are not bike friendly. The only challenge with this course is finding solid ground.
Go to Double Lake over in Coldspring instead.
