Description for Cypresswood Trails
The Crypresswood Trails offer up some really nice cross country type riding. There is lots of tight and twisty singletrack, with ample places to open and go as fast as you want, and there's ample traction around the turns but be careful there are some sandy spots! There are not too many steep downs and those few can be avoided but the trail does have several climbs that will get your heart rate up.
There are countless side trails at almost every turn to venture off and explore, while there are signs are up at most trailheads it is easy to get confused. It is best to bring someone out with you that has ridden the trails before, it is unlikely that you will get extremely lost if you are on your own.
If you are looking for more advanced riding head over to Ant Hills or Jack Brooks down in Hitchcock.

Really nice XC type trail. Lots of tight and twisty singletrack...with ample amount of places to open up as well. Not too many steep downs...and those few can be avoided. There are plenty of climbs however, and you can definitely your heart rate up.
Plenty of trail to ride. Today was my first trip and I ate up almost 19 miles. Rode same trails more than once of course, but there are countless side trails at almost every turn to venture off to.
I wouldn't describe the dirt as hardpack, but there's still ample traction around the turns. Some spots are sandy...lots of foliage on the ground.
Signs are up at most trailheads, but with all the side trails you can get confused. That can be good or bad...not cool if you like to know where you're going, but awesome b/c there's so many options. As I said before, this was my first time at Cypresswood, so I'm sure the regulars got it all figured out. Most everyone on the trails were courteous.
For XC type riding in Houston I would definitely recommend this trail. If you're looking for more advanced riding...head to Ant Hills...and for most technical in the area...head to Jack Brooks down in Hitchcock(35 minute ride South).

I went out yesterday and did this trail for the first time with a light drizzle and soggy ground. Needless to say the roots were slippery but no major obstacle. Can't wait to go back when the place is dry! Lots of twistys! Very fun.
