Description for Oak Cliff Nature Preserve
The Oak Cliff Nature Preserve or OCNP is a beautiful trail nestled on the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas. You will not get bored on this trail, there are many challenges and surprises.
Finding the trail can be tricky. It is northeast of Illinois Ave and Westmoreland off of Pierce between an industrial park and homes near the south end of Pierce.
Even with a a good map it is easy get confused and lost. the natural features begin to look the same and the trail are not well marked. Bring plenty of water and a positive attitude.
This is a good trail for the kids or to ride alone. It's hard to believe that you are practically in downtown Dallas. There are only a few spots that you can see the neighborhood. Clean water and a few creek crossing make it fun. Use the directions because the trail is hard to find. It's located between two apartment complexes and is marked only with a wooden sign. Parking is a no go unless you squat at the apartments visitor parking.

Great trail, wouldn't suspect it to be in the middle of the ghetto. So pretty technical climbs but a lot of great downhill as well. Well managed and marked trailed.
Small rock garden with a few double jumps for more experienced riders, although they may be pointless if you are not set up with good enough suspension, which caused me a knee injury.
Down falls: snakebites, low hanging branches and be prepared to be covered in dust or mud depending on the weather..

Really a fun trail...out of nowhere! Tucked behind an apartment complex in Oak Cliff it's a must ride for the metroplex. I wished I had this trail in Sherman....not ghetto land. You actually feel surprisingly safe at the trail head parking lot. Very good intermediate trail
