Description for Lake Norman State Park
Lake Norman State Park (often called Itusi Trails) has three different loops bring the total mileage of the Itutsi trails close to 20 miles. The newest loop, Laurel Loop, is the most technical of the three, the trail is fast rolling and well groomed terrain. The ride is a ton of fun despite the lack of technical sections. The area is often described as a mini version of Tsali.

Most of the trail is fast rolling and well groomed terrain. The trail is a ton of fun despite the lack of tech sections and you could still run into trouble if you don't keep your speed in check! Monbo Loop and Itusi Trail are fairly easy and I would consider them beginner trails. They remind me of the Greensboro Watershed trails. Laurel Loop is harder and more technical. Reminded me of Overmountain Victory Trail somewhat. Overall the mileage is 22 miles. Laurel Loop is 9.4 miles and Monbo is 6 miles. Itusi which is made up of Hawk Loop(3.1 miles), Norwood Loop(2.4 miles) and Hicks Creek Loop(1.1 miles) with the total for Itusi being 6.6 miles.
