Description for Elliot Barker Trail
Our preference it to combine the Elliot Barker Trail with the South Boundary Trail, it makes for an epic day on the bike. This combination is definitely for the fit, experienced rider, there is a lot of climbing, some technical sections that newer riders may not be comfortable with but most intermediate riders (that are in shape) should be fine. Since we mentioned climbing we should probably mention it again, you will be doing a fair bit of climbing so if it is your first day in Taos this ride should wait until you have acclimated.
See South Boundary Trail for more details.
If you decide not to add to the ride and only stick with the Elliot Barker trail, you still have a lot of climbing but much less mileage. The trail is a mix of single and doubletrack that weaves through a beautiful pine forest. It is not an overly technical but there are some steep downs and rock gardens that may be tough for a novice rider.
