Description for Marquette South Trails
The Marquette South Trails offer up some of the best riding in the area, definitely a destination trail worth a special drive just for the ridding. The trail is made up of three distinct loops over some of the most varied terrain in Michigan. The Mt. Marquette Loop (AKA Blue Loop) is by far the most challenging from a technical riding point of view, it has some tough ups and downs, and some great berms that let you really rail into the corners without worry of the trail giving away. The second loop is Pioneer (AKA Red Loop), it is not as technical but does have more climbing that may have you huffing and puffing if you are out of shape, Pioneer is a mixture of fireroads and singletrack but once you make it to Benson Grade it gets more technical almost freeride-ish. Carp River (AKA Yellow Loop) is the remaining loop, it is the down DH downhill like and has some pretty extensive climbing up the ski hill. In all this is a pretty phenomenal place to ride and should be on your must ride list.
