Trail Info:One of the premier trails in this region, and host to the AMBC Series race in the Fall of each year. The trail is 10 miles, and has a little something for all skill levels. Hills, downhills, rocks, switchbacks, etc. The trial crosses the park roads about 5 times, so you can stop if you've had enough. There is a $1.50/person entrance fee to the park.
There is a web site: http://www.park.lincolnparish.org you can go there for race results, events calendar, and current trail conditions....however it is always best to call first: -318 251-5156.
Directions from Shreveport:
I-20 East to the last Ruston exit-Farmerville. Turn left on HWY 33 heading North approx 3 miles. Park is on your left. Look for the big green sign. Most people park down near the swimming area. There are bathrooms, camping areas, etc.
One of the best trails in Louisiana. Located in a very nice campground with a lake. Day use and overnight camping. Close to town for eats and sleeps. Ten miles of challenging single and double track. Good climbs, good technical areas. Regular races are well managed.
Good fast track. Well worth the effort to take the ride in. Nothing overly spectacular but steady and fun. Fast. Some very tricky parts/jumps so be careful. The pad on the bridge post is there for a reason.Got to ride with James, the resident Park Manager. He's been laying out the trails and working on them since '92. Sponsors a number of races with the biggy in Oct.Bill from Shreveport and LBS drove over to join us.Great to have some company and a rabbit!
Oh...James said if it was a 10 spot in his tire instead if a measly buck, he'd have changed that skin many rides ago....Bill gave him a tire, anyway.
If you GPS gives you a different route to the trail head than what's described in the written directions, your GPS maybe wrong...mine was.
