Description for Sugar Bottom
Sugar Bottom is hands down the best mountain biking trail system that we have ridden in Iowa, there is a little bit of everything here so riders off all levels will be challenged.
The trails take a couple days to dry out after rain and there is a fine for riding when it is muddy so be sure to check the status at the ICORR Hotline: (319) 626-1160.
ICORR needs to log 600 volunteer hours of trail work and 200 volunteer hours of bike patrol each year to keep the Sugar Bottom trails open for bikes. This is under an annual agreement The US Army Corps of Engineers.
Visit http://www.icorrmtb.org for more details and trail status information or call the hotline.
Directions to Sugar Bottom Trailhead
From Iowa City take Dubuque Street to North Liberty. At the 3rd stop sign in North Liberty turn right on Maheaffy Bridge Road (County Road F28). After crossing the bridge turn right into Sugar Bottom and follow the signs to the beach.
