Description for Wagonhammer Trail System
There is something for everyone in Wagonhammer. Easy single track from the trailhead for those new to Mtn. Biking. Tough single track loops and HUGE shuttle rides. Stein Mountain Shuttle drops 5000' in 8 miles!!
From the Trailhead, the main Wagonhammer drainage is a great up and back ride for Novice riders. Further up Wagonhammer the trail gets rocky and technical. Perfect for those so inclined.
1 mile up Wagonhammer is a climb that spurs off to the right, just after a stream crossing. This road climbs about 2000 vertical feet. Nothing too tough if you are relatively fit. This climb accesses some expert terrain too.
1.4 miles from the Wagonhammer Trailhead is a singletrack that goes left and climbs. This is Little Thompson Gulch and is a challenge to even the most fit. This trail accesses some great singletrack and there are several loop options, including a loop back to Wagonhammer. There is even a 4600 vertical foot descent if you want to spend a good day working for it.
