Description for Three Mile Ridge
Start at the Chief Joseph Ski Trails off of Mt43 and the top of Chief Joseph Pass. Follow the CDT signs and a short section of singletrack that crosses the highway and connects to the Anderson Mountain Road. Ride on Anderson Mtn. Road for about 5.5mi and go left on Tr6111. This is another 2track and here you will see "CDT" scratched in to a tree. It is only another 3/4mi up to the top of Anderson Mountain for a great vista and well worth the side trip. Ride on 6111 for maybe 1/2mi and the CDT singletrack. Again you will see "CDT" scratched in to a tree. The trail is steep in sections, and rocky, but ridable. There are two "hike-a-bike" portions of the CDT on the way to 3 Mile Ridge. The first and shorter is after about 2mi on the CDT. The second and hardest is through an old forest fire burn and starts about 3 miles fromt he beginning of the CDT. There is a trail sign at the top of this burned section that is wrong or antiquated. It points to Nez Perce Trail and Three Mile Ridge Trail starting to the right from there. They both actually start .3mi further along the CDT at the next saddle in the ridge. At this saddle the 3 Mile Ridge Trail starts. Singletrack contours south then west away from the CDT. After about 1mi it turns south and starts dropping quickly. Here the trail becomes a 4wheeler track and descends all the way to Dahlonega Creek Road (about 3000 vertical ft). This is an amazing descent on pine duff and is super fast and grippy. From Dahlonega it is 2.5 miles to the parking area. About 3.5 to Broken Arrow.
