He can rent you the DH bike you'll need to enjoy the drop off of Haleakala.
Directions to Haleakala Volcano Ride Trailhead
Start at the top of Haleakala Volcano, 10,000'. Follow a ridge road down to around 5,000' the turn off to the right on the Mamane Trail. Hit a road turn left to Poli Poli park. From there find the Redwood Trail. Follow it down, down to the bottom through a fantastic redwood groove. Then PUSH your back up top the road then cruise down the twisty pavement and twisty single track off the road to Rice Park. This "ride" took 6 hrs. to do.
