Description for Sope Creek
The trail is a relatively flat, hard packed surface that winds past the river and through the wetlands and a section of trail where the trail bed is composed of crushed gravel. The trail gets very muddy following rains, so please avoid. Please note there are several miles of trial in this network on which biking is prohibited.

Great trail that is the closest to Atlanta than any other. Some of the climbs are difficult and the downs are sweet. Park in the lot off N. Interstate Pkwy and ride down the gravel road with all the foot traffic. Take the second gravel path on the left (the boardwalk doesn't count). Then make a right. The trail will be on the left a good opening from the woods. You'd better stay on sanctioned bike trail or you find yourself with Ranger Bob on your ass. Don't forget to pay for parking! $75 ticket if you don't. I think it's $3 or $25 for a year pass at the kiosk.

We parked in the lot off Paper Mill RD. Its a nice ride, pretty much a singletrack out & back that leads to a wide gravel path that goes in a loop. From the north its more downhill, pretty good flow, some nice rocky parts. The surface is hardpacked dirt/clay, some pineneedles in places, and smoother than you would think for the most part. Don't miss the little jump (not too far in from the north parkinglot, past the little dock where people fish.) Try not to be tempted by all the other trails that say no cycling, and watch out for hikers! Also, don't forget the $3 national park parking fee, totally worth it!
