The first thing most people say about Hickory Nut is that there is a lot of climbing, the second thing they usually say is you get to see a lot of wildlife, even bears, both of which are true. The trail is great for training and nature watching. Of course all that climbing does earn you a pretty fun and fast downhill, be warned there is not much maintenance on the trail so be cautious when ripping down the hill. Also expect rock gardens, baby head rocks, some vegetation, roots, drops, and ledges.
