Description for Virginia Key
The Virginia Key mountain bike trails are built on an old land fill, we cant think of a better way to reclaim land. The terrain is heavily wooded and located on the northern tip of Virginia Key.
The ride offers some of the most amazing views of the Miami downtown skyline that you will ever see, and the riding is fantastic. It starts straight down into a sharply banked curve of loosely packed dirt, followed immediately by another steep climb onto a slippery path barely wider than the bike’s fat tires. Any mistake -- too much speed on the turn, a fishtailing rear wheel, or a loss of momentum could mean a nasty fall.
Boasting paths for both the skilled rider and the utter novice, the Virginia Key mountain-bike trails constitute the first concrete step in the city of Miami’s ambitious plan for transforming the environmentally rich but much-abused island, publicly owned and bisected by the Rickenbacker Causeway, into a recreational and ecological showpiece.
The trails reclaim a spectacular site long off-limits to the public, and make a virtue out of waste mountainous hills of rock and dirt fill deposited on the island’s northern tip years ago after a bay-bottom dredging project, and now grown over by invasive but shady Australian pines.
Helmets are mandatory.

Unkess ur capable of doing trials the advanced trails here are plenty advanced and the novice trails are absolutely beautiful right along the bayside these trails are such a gem I can't believe they're out here. Thank you imba for this wonderful gift. The best trails I can find short of oleta park, (and pretty darn close!). Turn into Virginia key, go past Jimbo's until it dead ends into the park benches
