Description for Commando Run
For the adrenaline junkies it does not get much better then Commando Run. There is about 2000 feet of high altitude climbing but you are rewarded with over 5000 feet of downhill. This a high Alpine trail that is a mix of singletrack and fireroads, there is petty much everything you would expect from a trail in this area, steep fast descents, roots, drops, hard ups, off camber riding, tight switchbacks, loose rock, etc.
The ride does require advanced bike handling skills, this is not a trail for someone wanting to push their abilities, it is for those that have already developed them...
You can do this ride as a shuttle from Shrine Pass road off of I-70 grind up, when the road splits stay right on lime Creek Road, it will T shortly afterward and the trail continues on straight. When you run shuttle you can leave your other vehicle at the Vail Public Library (we didn't get hassled for parking there anyway).
