Description for Ribbon to Holy Cross
In my book Ribbon is one of the best trails in the world and hands down my favorite in the Grand Junction area. This ride is best done as a shuttle and is well worth the time, we have done the shuttle two times in a 3 hour period.
The trail begins with a slickrock section that looks like a large ice glacier crawling down the mountain a hundred or so feet above the forest. As you make your way to the right it will begin to narrow to a singletrack that leads you into a bowl like feature that I have only seen one person successfully ride (but many who have attempted and failed), after this you continue on for a epic downhill adventure, there are a couple of tough climbs and one steep hike-a-bike section but it is all worth it. The trail will eventually meet up with Holy Cross, take that down to the parking area.

Bring your 5-7" travel bike, flats, and knee pads won't hurt to ride this one with any confidence. Watch out for trail features like the "toilet bowl" (a sand stone hollow that will have you sitting on your rear tire), and "the waterfall" (a gnarly 12 foot decent that is even hard to hike down much less ride). Wear your 5.10's for a little rock climbing in the base of the canyon. Bring a FULL camelback and tubes for pinchflats. STELLAR RIDE.
