Description for Hermosa Creek
If you can only ride one trail in Durango, Hermosa Creek should be the one. So get one of the local shuttles to take you and your buddies up and let it rip. Don't commit to this ride thinking that there will be no climbing, on the contrary you will feel that familiar burn, a lot. We say some guys on bighit downhill bikes, they either did a ton of walking or are truly animals making some of the climbs.
Intermediate riders willing to push themselves should be able to do the ride without too much difficulty, just know your limits and ride within them, more advanced riders should feel right at home on nearly everything Hermosa has to throw at them (there are a few things that cause even the best riders to hike over).
Some people do this ride as an out and back from the bottom, if you have the animal like abilities we applaud your efforts, for the normal mortal, the shuttle is a much better option.

Very beautiful trail. We did it in late October and the Aspens were still turning. The trail is worth riding but be aware, although it is a shuttle ride it is not a downhill. I wish I would have rocked an xc bike instead of my 7" heavy trail bike. The ride starts out with quad width double track and goes to single for the majority. Not a feature filled ride but a good xc. Be sure to stay right at the bridge. Grab a nightly special at the Serious Texas BBQ when you're done and replenish the calories you burned off pedaling this shuttle. Good to do once but I won't be back unless I'm showing it to someone else.
