Description for Pearl Pass
Pearl Pass has quite the reputation, in fact it is the crowning achievement for some bikers. We certainly don't want to take anything away from them, the grind up is ridiculously grueling, and if you can do it you have earned your place as a climbing superstar. The views are out of this world, the climbing is out of this world, but the trail (in our humble opinion) was not. Crested Butte has some of the best trails there are, period, but we cannot put the Pearl Pass into this category. We wanted to love it, but just couldn't. Don't get us wrong the down was ripping fast and fun, the up (honestly we didn't make it to the top) was a lung busting grind that never seemed to end, thankfully we could just turn around and ride back down what we already earned.
The ride is an out and back on Jeep roads, there is a fair amount of motorcycle and ATV traffic that share the trail.
