Description for Pikes Peak
Pikes Peak is a great shuttle ride, just take the Pikes Peak Toll Road almost to the top, there will be a pull off on your left just before you get all the way up which is the best drop location. If you the trail is within your riding abilities you should add it to your must ride list, it will be one of the most memorable times on your bike.
The downhill ride is epic trail. The trail has everything you can ask for, I recommend wearing a few pads on the ride, there are several places where it is easy to wipe out. The trail is super fast, loose in some places, super smooth in others, there is some rough stuff that gets pretty challenging, switchbacks, rock gardens, drops, step ups, and some climbing.
You can end the ride by taking Hwy 24 back into town if you setup shuttle just park off of Ruxton Avenue at the bottom.
The trail is pretty hard and is mostly geared towards advanced riders, strong intermediate riders should be able to ride a lot of the stuff but may not have the best time, there will be a lot of dismounts. So be sure to ride within your abilities, my recommendation is to leave the less experienced riders on another trail, you are pretty remote and do not need any extra liabilities.
Be on the look out of hikers and runners the trail can get pretty busy at times. Some people actually do this ride as an out and back, my hat is off to them, it is a grueling uphill achievement and they deserve everyone's admiration.

This is the Barr Trail. It is almost 13 miles long and encompassed about 7500 feet elevation change one way. Drop in from the summit wearing armor and a full-faced helmet. Ride something with a good 6" it travel front and rear and that has really good disk brakes. The first couple miles from the 14,110 foot summit are simply insane. The 16 switchbacks (the "16 golden stairs") at the top are only about 30 percent rideable. Ride within your limits as you are half a day for a medivac if the cougars, black bears, or flash storms don't get you first.
The trail has a little of everything; there are nasty exposed areas,
