Description for Fremont Older
The Fremont Older Regional Open Space trail system is an intermediate level trail in terms of aerobic requirements but not really in terms of technical challenge. The trails are a mix of singletracks and fireroads. It is possible to find a few challenges if you explore around a bit, but overall the climbing is the most challenging part of the ride.

Ok I've been ridding here since 1993. It has sure gotten busy in the last few years but still a great midweek after work run. You should park on Prospect rd and ride to the trail head. It's a great warm up before you start the climb. At first it's fire road but once you get to the top of the main hill there are several single tracks to choose from. I have strung together a great loop that takes you from the main parking to Garrod stables then back around to hunters point and back to the parking lot in 6 miles. It's a lot of fun has plenty of climbing that leads to some sweet down hills and switch backs with different Terran types from sandy to dirt to gravel. Not a beginners trail but worth the effort. There is no water here so bring your hydration pack and a snack. There is a bathroom at the dirt parking lot. If you run into trouble don't panic wait about two minutes and someone will be by as this place gets busy. Also watch for other riders as some of the single tracks are great in either direction and I have come close to wrecking into other riders. Lots of blind corners. Did notice a ranger with a battery powered radar gun. Stopped to talk to him about it, as with all parks in Cali 15Mph top speed and 5Mph while passing. Look out for horseback ridders and hikers. Hope to see you out there. I always have my name on my jerseys "SOWELL" if you see me say hi.
