Description for Forest of Nisene Marks
The Forest of Nisene Marks offer some of the best bay area riding, hands down. The trails are DH singletrack, you can grind up, setup a shuttle or hire one of the local shuttle companies to take you up. The views of the Santa Cruz bay are out of this world. Be careful when you are selecting your route down, some of the trail options have a more severe climb out then others (Sawpit is great but you will work for your fun).
This trail system should be on your must ride list.

This ride is fantastic with lots of side trails, but it's a monster climb the entire way unless you shuttle it.
IMO, the best way to ride it is to shuttle up with Dave Smith, who runs ShuttleSmith. He leaves from Epicenter Cycling and climbs the 15 miles to drop you off for the downhill. You climb just another 30 minutes to get to the top where the fun downhill begins. Take the "Bacon" trail. The rest is mostly just fire road, but the fire road is super smooth and you can fly around the turns without breaking at every one.
Definitely worth doing if you're in the area!
