Description for Towsley Canyon
Towsley Canyon is a nice ride! The trail starts from the parking area with a wide dirt track until you reach the Narrows. Around 100 feet of big stones, where you have to find your way through the river bed (most likely you have to push or carry the bike. Specially after a day of rain there will be some water. Afterwards the track gets steeper (actually pretty steep), but you still can ride when it's dry. I had to push as it was to muddy and and the bike slipped always going uphill. On the top you are rewarded with a fantastic view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. The way down through Wiley Canyon is a nice track and much drier than the other side. Overall a nice short ride!

Started at the parking lot at the base and went Clockwise (started going to the left). Immediately it starts with a mellow climb and some ruts, but then you reach this place and have to turn right and realize that its a 40% grade staring at you in the face! Long very steep climb with hike a bike for a long while and some sore calves. Keeps climbing for another 2 miles and is very bumpy and rutty with more very steep parts. Personally I do not get very much enjoyment of climbing and hiking up the steepest hillside I can find.
Once at the top watch out for tiny little birds called Mosquitos! they'll eat you alive! Then start descending down a not as rutted, less steep mountain side with technical switchbacks but they are fun!
You will then get to a creek that smells like urine and can ride through it if you want that smell on you or hike a bike on the rocks.
You will finally come out to a gravel road that is very wide and can haul a$$ back to the lot.
Kinda fun just to say I did it but Los Pinetos trail is more comfortable of a ride with less ruts and better roads. Way less steep too.
