The Last Chance Section of the California coastal trail is fantastic. Start at crescent beach overlook just south of crescent city. 6 miles out the trail crosses HWY 101 and this is the turn around. .5 miles in the trail gets really steep for about 1 mile, but pushing up is sooooo worth it because you end up on the most delicious 4 miles of glidey smooth track through towering redwood groves
