Description for Cowles Mountain Backside
The backside of Cowles Mountain is a much more physically intensive ride then riding the fireroad up the frontside. I don't know if anyone "cleans" the up, there are several places that would be extremely difficult to ride up, especially given the grueling nature of the climbing you must do to reach the top. The trail is a mix of singletrack and fireroad (just the top is a fireroad).
The downhill section is epic, lots of fast loose stuff, rock gardens to rip through, technical switchbacks, kickers, and all around great terrain. This trail was is one of the most advanced trails near the city and is a lot like the technical downs at Noble Canyon.
A lot of downhill riders actually push their bikes up the trail just for the opportunity to ride back down, the trail is that good!
