Description for Point Mugu
Like the other trails in the area, Point Mugu State Park is a mix of singletrack and fireroad riding. Overall the the trails are geared towards intermediate riders, but strong beginners willing to really push themselves should not have too much trouble. Everyone knows this area is beautiful, but seeing it by mountain bike somehow makes it that much more special. Some of the downhill sections are screaming fast.

If you are interested in mixing beginning rides with more intermediate challenges then Sycamore Canyon and its trails are awesome. My favs: Guadalasca (marked Guadalasco on the trailhead sign but Guadalasca on the map), Backbone, Sin Nombre, Two Foxes. Guad and BB are great intermediate rides with Guad having some spots for beginners to recover. There are several shaded spots on Guad mixed with heart-pumping switches well positioned for an aerobic workout. You'll love the downhill. Sin Nombre & 2Fxs are perfect for beginners and a good warm up to the more uphill climbs of Guad & BB. I have actually rode with foxes here in the early a.m. Park outside the park just off the PCH otherwise be prepared to pay a hefty day use fee inside. There are restroom facilities inside the PCH entrance. Also a good place to dry camp. All in all a great place to ride, practice skills and experience eye candy as you ride. Google VENTURA COUNTY TRAILS for more info and maps.

One of the best trails I have been on. One of the up hills is single track and fire road mixed, It seems like an eternity to make it to the top. Once you get to the top of the hill, you could enjoy a great scenery. It took me and my buddy a couple of trips to conquer the up hill, the rest of the way was mostly down hill single track and alot of hair pin turns. this will always be a fovorite for me.
