Our last report is that this trail is still closed as of March 2011 due to the 2010 wildfires, we do not have an ETA on when it may reopen. If details change please email us and we will update the status of this trail.
The Arroyo Secco Trail offers a great place for beginning riders to learn to ride their bike off road, but there are enough intermediate features to make it a fun ride for most riders. The trail is a wide doubletrack and singletrack ride, the more challenging aspects to the trail are creek crossings, rock gardens.

The west side of the trail, which I took uphill is fine. But from the highest point on it is very overgrown with partly ligneous vegetation, so no fun to ride.
And to find the last part towards the bottom of the canyon with the creek is almost impossible if you don't have a GPS.
The trail along the creek is also not visible well, especially at the point where you have to leave the creek again.
It was no fun, maybe the trail will be rebuilt at a point in time, but as of January 2012 is in no condition for a fun ride!

Not worth it unless you are a complete beginner. It's a wide, flat, sandy fire road. It was a decent ride before the fire a couple years ago but now it's no fun. Plus it's closed off after a certain point. It has some nice long creek crossings and the scenery is nice in the canyon, but i decided to see what kind of shape it was in a couple months ago and fighting all the sand and flatness just took all the fun out of it for me.
3. A lot better than suspected

For some reason a lot of people chose the brown mt trail over this 9/10 times and miss the fact that this is a fun fast ride. I think this is because most riders don't go past the section where the trail turns into single track. It's a relatively easy climb (compared to brown mt.) and you can do it at a fast clip. There are about 6 river crossings followed by copious amounts of sand which I will say is a total pain.
I always have fun on this trail and there are a handful of technical spots including full rock drops along the creek. The large waterfall at the end is a nice reward. If you want to practice going fast this is a good trail to put it in top gear and mow through.
Watch out for hikers! there is a camp ground by the trail.
I am not sure which trail at was posting about.
Try it for yourself.
