Description for Art Smith Trail
Those new to the Art Smith Trail should be aware that the entire trail is not rideable, there is a fair amount of hike-a-bike, the trail was build for horses and hikers, but sees a fair amount of mountain bike traffic. The terrain is rough, technical, and hard even for the most experienced and fit riders. Considering all of those details, it is still a great ride and should be considered by those that possess the skills to pull it off. The views alone make the ride a memorable experience.
The ride starts with a few miles of climbing up Dunn Road which is a fireroad, the climb is steep and tiring. The Art Smith Trail will be on your left around the four mile mark. It is hard to miss the sign. Once you get on the trail there are some epic downs that make the climbing worth while but there is still more climbing and terrain requires riders to dismount.
This trail is well suited for very advanced and expert riders.

Go up Dunn Road and enjoy the drop back to route 74. Great riding, only a few switch backs to dismount on. Lots of hiker to look out for. Did it both ways. Easy ride in from 74 to the other end and back in a day.
