Description for Horse Canyon Trail
Horse Canyon does not get the credit it deserves, it is a fantastic ride and one that should be on your must ride list if you are in the area. The riding is fairly advanced so intermediate riders may have to dismount several times and some of the downs are pretty steep. There are several different ways that the trail can be ridden so if it is your first time up, you may want to talk a local into showing you the best options or bring along a GPS.
The ride is a high altitude ride, so those of us that live closer to sea level will likely be feeling the climbs almost immediately, so give yourself plenty of time for the ride. Also expect a bit of hike-a-bike, some of the sections are almost unrideable (but don't let they dissuade you, they are short and easily navigated). The downhill section is typically everyone's favorite part, it is fast, technical and just plain fun. The ride is not quite as technical as Mr. Toads, but it is challenging. A lot of riders opt to ride Thunder Mountain up and do the Horse Canyon descent, which is a fantastic way to tackle both trails (and probably the funnest way to experience the trails).
