Description for Cannel Plunge
If you are an advanced rider, the Cannel Plunge trail should be on your must ride list. The ride requires you to setup or pay someone to shuttle you. You will be pretty exhausted after spending the entire day on the bike so paying for the shuttle is a much better option (in our opinion). The local rafting company provides shuttle service at a good price.
While the majority of the trail is downhill, there are still some burly climbs so a downhill or bighit would probably mean a lot of walking. The terrain is pretty consistent with other trails in the area, some sand, loose soil, roots, switchbacks and rocks. Be warned there is a fair amount of exposure so watch your tire placement, we heard that bikers have fallen to their deaths.
Be sure to pack appropriately, the temperature can change rapidly so bring layers and running out of water could be disastrous. Also tubes, patch kits, and general maintenance equipment is a must. This is typically an all day ride (it takes some people up to 10 hours, maybe more).
