Description for Pine Knot Trail
From Snow Summit: "The best and longest singletrack in the South Valley that drops you into Aspen Glen for a paved ride through the Big Bear Lake Village back to Snow Summit."
A great lift accessible trail in the Big Bear area. The 2N10 is all fire road but is nice and fast with some fun berms and little drops scattered along the way. Pine Knot trail is 100% singletrack. You can do this ride on pretty much any bike, and most of the trail is smooth so competent beginners or intermediate riders will be fine. This doesn't mean it is boring for advanced riders. There are some fun and interesting lines to be found on the trail (just watch out for hikers). The top is smooth and flowy and it gets a little rockier and looser towards the bottom.
This ride will require you to ride back through town to the lift. You may be able to connect to Towne Trail, which would be a shorter ride back than the route shown here.
There is no reason one couldn't ride up this trail, but the altitude definitely makes it a workout.
Directions to Pine Knot Trail Trailhead
Take the Snow Summit Sky Chair to the top, then head west on 2N10 (turn right when you get off the lift). Pine Knot Trail starts just before you get to 2N08.
