This high elevation ride starts at the 3000 ft. level and is about 15% road, 15% single track, and 70% fire trails. It begins with a road ride thats just over a mile with a 500 feet climb in elevation, which is not too difficult. It then goes off onto a single track that takes you around the top of the mountain, changing into a technical ride down the hill for a total of about 1 mile and a 500 ft. descent. Next is a steep decent down a fire trail for a fast drop of 1000 ft. in elevation over a distance of 2 miles. The remainder of the ride is a excruciatingly tough 2 1/2 mile, 1000 ft. ascent on fire trails until you get back to the starting point. This is a very scenic ride that requires very good endurance and skills, and is highly recommended for the experienced.
Drive toward the summit until you get to the Juniper Campground. This is the starting point. Ride up Summit Road until you get to the Devils Elbow. Do not take the Summit Trail which is on the way; it is posted as off limits to bicycles. At the Devils Elbow take the Norht Peak Trail. This single track will take you around the top of the mountain and down the other side. At the bottom where it meets up with the fire trails, go to the left. This is Prospectors Gap. Head down the road always staying to the left at every intersection. (Prospectors Gap to Meridian to Deer Flat)This will take you back to Juniper Campground.
