Great buff single track with some technical in the second half.
Add the lollipop described in Cosmic Ray's guide to the end. A little way-finding is necessary at end. After first crossing of Rio Agua Fria in the loop section don't miss the hard left at the rock cairn. If you've come to a wire gate, you've missed it. Also, after the second Rio Agua Fria crossing in the loop section follow the road to a tee with a more developed road, then left for about 0.3 miles then another short, steep left in a hairpin to bring you back to the end of the loop and the end of the trail described here. Use caution with Cosmic Ray's description as there are numerous road crossings and several trail junctions not shown in that guide.
From trailhead:
- At approximately 0.8 miles stay left.
- First crossing of Rio Agua Fria at 1.5 miles stay right after crossing and left 0.1 miles later.
After that pretty easy to follow until lollipop.
Brown carsonite markers all have "Black Canyon Trail" regardless of which portion of the trail you are on so this can add to confusion.
Mileage from trailhead to beginning of lollipop is more like 8.5 - 9 miles. The lollipop is about 6.5 miles.

This is a partial mileage as I didn't include the return. Add 8.8 miles from end of lollipop back to Rock Springs Trailhead.
For access: Take I17 to exit 242 and go west. Go right onto frontage road and left into gravel road to trailhead. Look for large propane tank.
Also, check out the Rock Springs cafe and surrounding attractions post ride.
