Description for Chickasabogue Park
In total there is about 15 miles of hiking and biking trails wind through hardwood hills, sandy pine flats and across swamps on wooden bridges. Most of the trails are singletrack and located away from the developed areas of the park. Several mountain bike competitions have been held on the course, including the Alabama State Championships and the Alabama Sports Festival competitions.
Chickasabogue Park offers three loops for mountain bikes. Two of the loops are open on alternating days to keep trail wear to a minimum. The third, an easier loop is open every day. The park offers some technical tight trails with roots and some fast trails easier trails.
$1 at the gate. Trails are pretty well maintained. You can pick up a trail map at the office, but several of the newer trails are not listed on the map but are marked on the trail. Be on the lookout for spider webs in the summer an early fall. Some of the trails do not get much traffic. Bottom line: Enjoyable moderate single track. Although, some trails have lots of roots.
