Galbraith mountain in Bellingham, WA is in danger of being closed down. The mountain itself is owned by an investment firm that acquired it after the former owner defaulted on payments. They've recently decided to close the mountain down to recreational use. This is largely seen as a strategic move to pressure the city of Bellingham into purchasing the land for an exorbitant price.

A tentative agreement has been reached:

If all goes well, Galbraith will be around for a long time. Hopefully, it will continue to prosper under the city's management and stewardship by the Whimps Mountain Bike Coalition. If you're ever in Northwest Washington, be sure to check it out.
